The Prayer Station of Emmanuel Methodist Church was started on 2nd, October 2012 with the intention of reaching out to those who passed by the gates of the church. The Emmanuel Methodist Church is located at a strategic place and there is a great opportunity to minister to a large number of people.

The Prayer station Outreach was modelled on a similar ministry of the Anna nagar Methodist church. Those who wanted to be part of this ministry met at the church and discussed ways and means to take the initiative forward.

It was decided that every Monday and Tuesday, volunteers would stand at the gates of the church and try and pick up a conversation with the people who were walking down Jeremiah Road. Very soon many were stopping by to share their needs and to be prayed for, either in the church sanctuary or near the steps to the church.

A station is a place where a train stops. The Prayer Station likewise is a stop for prayer.

All kinds of people come to the Prayer Station – college students, school children, alcoholics, athletes, those who are disturbed or depressed etc. The volunteers stand faithfully at the gates and listen empathetically to them and pray with them. A register is maintained to keep track of those who have been ministered to.

During the lockdown, the Prayer Station had to be closed. However, the volunteers continue to meet regularly over zoom for prayer, believing that God is going to enable them to restart the ministry at he gates once again.
