“Next to the word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world.”– Martin Luther

“Above all sing spiritually. Have an eye to God in every word you sing. Aim at pleasing him more than yourself, or any other creature.” –John Wesley

EMC has inherited a rich tradition of sacred music. EMC’s musical journey began in 1952 at revival meetings where music played a significant role. By 1956 a regular church choir had been formed which sang every Sunday, during revival and special meetings. Over the years, several brilliant musicians have directed the choir. Today, the EMC Choir serves the church regularly every Sunday in the leading of congregational singing and in ministering through messages in song. The choir also has special presentations during the Easter, Christmas and New Year’s eve services. Members of the Children’s Choir, the MYF and others augment it for special meetings/services. The choir’s repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary choral music.

Church Choir

Realising the need for initiating and training children in choral music, the EMC Children’s Choir was formed about 35 years back. They most enthusiastically participate in worship services and special meetings. They also have special cantata presentations thrice during the year. The Children’s choir is meant to provide resources for the EMC Choir when the children become older.

EMC is also blessed with several gifted musicians who assist in the leading of songs of praise and worship during services and special meetings. They are also encouraged to use their talents regularly at services and special meetings.

EMC is known as a ‘church that loves to sing’; and we take our singing very seriously! We sing together to glorify God’s name!

To God be the glory, great things He has done!
